Roger R. Harris, 79, of Canton and Point Vivian, passed Friday, May 3rd.
He was born April 25, 1945, in Watertown, NY, son of Harry and Frances Martin Harris. He graduated from Adams High School, in 1963, and then from Jefferson Community College, in 1967.
He married Rosemary E. Marquit on August 31, 1968, at the Adams Village Baptist Church, in Adams, NY.
Roger was owner/operator of the Super Duper grocery store in Canton and also worked at the Potsdam BIG M. He later worked for many years for Garlock Lumber and Hardware, in Alexandria Bay.
He was a Paul Harris Fellow and past president of the Alexandria Bay Rotary Club, maintaining a perfect attendance record for over 50 years. He was member and past master of the Alexandria Bay Masonic Lodge, and past president and board member of the Point Vivian Park Association.
Besides his wife, Rosie, he is survived by a son, Kevin (Donna Fox), Fort Meyers, FL and a daughter Kyle (Koji) Kubota, Middleton, MA and Point Vivian, sister, Marcia Harris, Salem, NH and Point Vivian, and a grandson, Kelsey Kubota. He was predeceased by two brothers, Gordon and Donald Harris.
Calling hours will be held Friday, May 31st, from 6-9pm, with a Masonic service beginning at 8 pm, at the Costello Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay. A memorial service will be at the funeral home, Saturday, June 1st, at 11 am, with burial following at Point Vivian Cemetery. A celebration of life reception will be held at the Point Vivian pavilion following cemetery services.
Memorial donations may be made in Roger’s name to the Alexandria Bay Rotary Club Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 186, Alexandria Bay, NY 13607.
