Philip J. Leonhardt

April 19, 1957 — July 6, 2024

Alexandria Bay, NY

Philip Jon Leonhardt, 67, was born April 19, 1957, and died July 6, 2024, at his home in Watertown, under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County. He is survived by his brother, Larry and wife Louanne, his nephew Hoyt and wife Rhiannon Leonhardt and their children, Maggie and Rosie, and his niece Margo and her husband Justin DeVito, and their children Sam and Max.

Passing before him were his parents, Harwood and Claire and aunt and uncle, Nancy and Ron McLennan.

Phil was a social butterfly and was born with the gift of gab. Phil showed unconditional love to everyone in his communities throughout his life – his family, his church, and his life at the ARC of Jefferson-St. Lawrence. Phil Taught everyone in his family, the gift of patience, how to be compassionate to people with differences, and how to be resilient through all the curveballs of life.

Phil loved his family – his parents, his brother, and his niece and nephew. He loved animals – especially dogs. He loved NASCAR, speedboats, wrestling, and a big ice cream at the end of the day.

Phil was an avid bike rider through the town of Alexandria Bay. He collected cans and bottles on the roadside and donated them to the Alexandria Bay Fire Department.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Phil’s name to The ARC of Jefferson-St. Lawrence Foundation, 380 Gaffney Drive, Watertown, NY 13601. It is truly a wonderful organization, because of its loving and dedicated staff.

“Thanks” is too simple a word for all the JRC and ARC of Jefferson-St. Lawrence gave to Phil. Their hours and days of love and caring made a tremendous difference in his life.
