Redwood, NY – Peter G. Papin, 79, passed away Monday afternoon, March 18th, 2024 at River Hospital. He was born October 8th,1944, in Watertown, NY, son of Raymond W. and Matilda Marie Ludlow Papin. He graduated from LaFargeville High School in 1963. He married Joyce Littlefield on June 22nd, 1963, at the LaFargeville Methodist Church.
As a young man, Pete owned and operated his own dairy farm in the town of Orleans. He later owned Papin Excavation, in Redwood, for many years. He enjoyed racing, riding his motorcycle, reading, and watching Westerns. He also enjoyed spending time with his sons and with his wife at his home on Clear Lake.
Besides his wife, Joyce, he is survived by four sons, Peter (Jan) Papin, Redwood, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Papin, Redwood, Jamie (Michelle) Papin, Theresa, and Phillip, Chaumont, a brother, Rick Papin (John Wrape), Watertown, two stepbrothers, Dale Papin, Sr, and Teddy Papin, both of LaFargeville, four half-sisters, Rhonda Jones (Justin), Croghan, and Kathy (Paul) Varga, Deborah Exell and Lisa (Jay) Reynolds, all of Watertown, eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his stepmother, Joyce E. Papin, his stepfather, Charles Sweeney, and a brother, John Papin.
A celebration of life reception will be held at JK’s Roadhouse on Saturday, March 30th from 1-3 pm. Memorial donations may be made in Peter’s name to the Alexandria Bay Fire Department, 110 Walton St, Alexandria Bay, NY 13607 or to River Hospital, 4 Fuller Street, Alexandria Bay, NY 13607.
