ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y. —
Jean S. Elk Arquiett, 42, a native of Alexandria Bay, passed away, Thursday, Sept. 1, at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, after having been admitted on Sunday.
She was born May 14, 1974, in Watertown, NY. She graduated from Alexandria Central High School in 1992, and then from SUNY Potsdam in 1996, with a bachelor’s degree in English Literature.
She went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1998 till 2000, where she worked in digital telecommunications. While serving her country, she attended army tech school in Gordon, GA, where she finished second in her class.
She married Christopher Arquiett on June 6, 1999, in Alexandria Bay.
Besides her husband, Chris, she is survived by two sons, Cassidy (15) and Jacob (11) and her daughter Chloe (13), her mother, Fay Elk, Alexandria Bay, her father, Theodore Elk, Hammond, her brother and his wife, George and Jayme Elk, Ithaca, and her grandmother, Jean Elk, Alexandria Bay.
She was predeceased by her sister Laura Side, grandfather, Glenn Elk, and her grandparents, Ivan and Marjorie Salisbury.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Costello Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1pm at the Alexandria Bay United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Freddie Webb officiating.
