Helen A. Fitzsimmons, 89, of Redwood passed away Thursday at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, where she was admitted on March 20, 2016. Helen was born in Watertown on August 6, 1926 the daughter of William and Katherine Donahue Lees. She attended Watertown schools and graduated from Redwood High School. She married Robert F. Fitzsimmons, Jr. on November 18, 1944 in Watertown. Mr. Fitzsimmons passed away March 18, 1983. She was a homemaker and volunteered at E.J. Noble Hospital in Alexandria Bay. Helen is survived by her sons, Gary F. (Diane) of Greeneville, SC; Mark (Amy), Gouverneur, NY; R. Joseph (Hollie), Middletown, NY; Richard (Michelle), Clayton , NY; Jack (Shannon), Pennelville, NY; Patrick (Joanne) Clayton, NY; Sean, Charlestown, MO; and daughters, Cecelia Wibbe, Theresa, NY: and Karen Millett, Naples, FL; 19 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Margaret Amyot, Redwood and Noreen (Bill) Boyer, Bowling Green, KY. She is predeceased by her grandson, Christopher, and her siblings, William Lees, Thomas Lees, Mary Quinn, Joan Crowner, Dorothy Donovan, and Patricia Estrada. Calling hours will be held at Costello Funeral Home in Alexandria Bay on Monday, April 4th from 4-7pm. A funeral mass will be said at St. Cyrils’ Catholic Church on Tuesday at 11:00 am, with Fr. Douglas Comstock, officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Redwood. Memorial donations may be made to the Crouse Hospital Foundation at www.crouse.org.
