Gerald S. “Jerry” Fitzgerald, 63, passed away Friday afternoon, June 28th, at Hospice of Jefferson County, in Watertown.
He was born January 30, 1961, in Alexandria Bay, son of William and Helen Rodiquez Fitzgerald. He graduated from Alexandria Central High School in 1979 and then attended SUNY Brockport.
Jerry owned and operated Thousand Islands Fishery, a wholesale fish operation that supplied fresh locally caught fish to many area restaurants, and bait to many local bait stores.
He was well known as an avid hunter, fisherman, trapper and overall outdoorsman. He was always fair in his business. He loved people and most of his friends loved him, knowing he could be “hard to handle”. He believed in his Lord and will surely cause a stir in heaven every now and then.
He is survived by his longtime companion, friend and business partner, Marcia Hayden, and their son, William J. Fitzgerald, a niece, Jane Vachion and a nephew, Greg Netto. He was predeceased by two brothers, Gary and Jack Fitzgerald.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20th at 10am, at the Costello Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay.
