George R. Bruce

George R. Bruce, 67, passed away on June 4^th, at his home.

He was born August 2, 1956, in Alexandria Bay, NY, son of Charles “Ira” and Blossom Kerridge Bruce. He was educated in Alexandria Bay schools.

A marriage to Sarah Graham ended in divorce.

George owned and operated Bruce Marine Fiberglass, as a young man. He later worked for Diverse Marine Construction, with Hunter Grimes, and then for over 20 Years as a caretaker for Joe Agen, at Little Squaw Island. He was currently working for the Village of Alexandria Bay.

George was a member of the Morristown Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid drag racer, golfer and gardener. He enjoyed ice hockey and coached Alexandria Bay Minor Hockey for several years. He loved his pet cat “Buck”.

He is survived by his brother, Murray (Shelly) Bruce, Alexandria Bay, and his niece Kyra Bruce.

A celebration of life reception will be held at a time and place to be announced.

Memorial donations may be made in George’s name to the SPCA of either Jefferson of St. Lawrence Counties, or the charity of one’s choice.
