FRANCES R. PRENDERGAST

FRANCES R. PRENDERGAST December 6, 2015 ALEXANDRIA BAY, NY – Frances R. Prendergast, 93, formerly of Seaway Avenue, passed away Sunday morning at Samaritan Summit Village, Watertown.  Her wishes came true as she passed while in the company of her loving family. She was born January 27, 1922 at home in Salt Springville, Cherry Valley, NY, daughter of Frank and Una Etta Riesdorph Ripple. Frances married James P. Prendergast, “her handsome Irishman,” on June 3, 1944 in Utica, NY.  Mr. Prendergast died December 13, 1996 at their cottage on Seaway Ave., Alexandria Bay, NY. Frances was the eldest of eight children and is survived by brothers Wesley and Theodore.  Previously deceased were brothers Warren and Richard and sisters Iris, Elizabeth and Roberta.  She raised her family in Utica and summered on Wellesley Island.  In 1996, she and James moved to Seaway Ave., Alexandria Bay. She was a loving wife and mother who always said her family was her world.  Frances resided at Summit Village for one year and said her care providers at Summit were her second family. She is survived by three sons, David and his wife, Mary Ann of Voorheesville, NY, Vincent and his wife, Mary Ellen of Wellesley Island, NY and James P. Jr. of Utica, NY and Wellesley Island, two daughters, Mrs. James (Cynthia) Mecomber, of Alexandria Bay, NY and Jane M. Prendergast of Tully, NY, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. Graveside services will be planned in the spring of 2016 at Riverside Cemetery, Wellesley Island. Arrangements are with Costello Funeral Service, Alexandria Bay.
