Elizabeth A. Hewitt

Elizabeth A. "Bette Boop" Hewitt, 92, lifelong resident of Alexandria Bay, passed asway October 2nd.

Bette was born on July 8, 1932, the daughter of Valetta Wilder Beebe.  She graduated from Alexandria High School.

Bette was the co-owner of the Peek-in Gift Shop and Straw and Sweats Gift Shop during the 1960's, 70's and 80's. In addition, she was a librarian for many years at the Holland Library and then at the MacSherry Library, retiring in 2012.   

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Reformed Church of the Thousand Isles.  She was an avid reader and was proud to be named "ACS Sports Fan of the Year". 

Bette is survived by her daughter Diana (Charles) Fram, Redwood, NY, and her sons Jeffrey (Joan) Hewitt, Nashville, TN, and Randy Hewitt, Fort Lauderdale, FL; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters Arlene Carlisle, Liverpool, NY, Sally (Don) Sanford, Alexandria Bay, NY, and brother David (Sherry) Beebe, Alexandria Bay, NY.

Burial at Highland Park Cemetery will be private.
