Douglas Glenn Williams passed away at home Monday, March 10th. He had been under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
He was born August 30, 1935 to Alice Spies Williams and Glenn Williams in the village of Theresa. He married Lynda Skinner March 19, 1979. A previous marriage to Judith Brown ended in divorce.
Doug was a third generation farmer on the Williams Road in the town of Alexandria. He also had a backhoe business in his early years. He served on the Alexandria Town Board from 1977 until 2013. He enjoyed golfing, jet-skiing, his sawmill and spending time at the East Branch Hunting Club.
Besides his wife, Lynda, he is survived by his daughters, Cathy Wills, LaFargeville, Debra Biase, CT, his son Bradley, LaFargeville, and his stepchildren Jennifer (Jeffrey) Papin, Redwood and Jeffrey(Donna Russell) Zimmer, LaFargeville. He is also survived by his brother, Roy(Patricia) Williams, Plessis as well as seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Virginia Kring Ely.
The family would like to sincerely thank Hospice with special appreciation for Vickey, Kelly, Andrea and Stephanie.
Per Doug’s wishes there will be no services. Donations may be made in Doug’s name to Hospice of Jefferson County at jeffersonhospice.org.
