Donald J. Ayen, Sr., 84, of Redwood, died Wednesday afternoon at United Helpers Nursing Home, in Ogdensburg.
He was born April 12, 1932 in Rossie, NY, son of Ambrose J. and Pearl Tibbles Ayen. He was educated in Hammond schools. He served in the US Air Force from 1951-1952.
Mr. Ayen worked as a dairy farmer for many years. He enjoyed fishing.
He married Elizabeth Hunter in 1951. Mrs. Ayen died on May 10, 1999.
He is survived by three sons, Donald J. “Jay”, Kansas, Paul E., Redwood, and Ambrose D, Deleware, four daughters, Linda Davis, Mrs. Dana (Ann) Spies, and Nancy Wagoner, all of Redwood, and Mrs. John “Ken” (Arlene) Daily, Alexandria Bay, a brother John, Florida, three sisters, June Harris, Heuvelton, NY, Mrs. Wesley (Jean) Merritt, Redwood and Sheila Finley, Florida, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Diane Savage, two brothers, Clifford and Harry Ayen, and two sisters, Marion Robinson and Betty Gibson.
There will be no public services. Burial will be in Rossie Cemetery at the convenience of the Family.
