It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charlotte L. (Nindl) Wellins on October 24, 2024. Charlotte was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched all who knew her.
She is survived by her sons, Greg and Mark, Greg’s Wife and cherished daughter-in-law Carmen, her adored grandchildren Andrea Wellins and Nicholas Wellins, and her brother, John Nindl. Charlotte’s love for her family was matched only by her passion for helping others and making the world a better place.
A lifelong educator, Charlotte dedicated her career to nurturing and inspiring countless students throughout New Jersey, bringing wisdom and compassion to all whose lives she touched. Her beautiful home on Wellesley Island, NY, in the Thousand Islands, was a place of joy, where family, friends, and neighbors were always welcomed with open arms and generosity. She took immense pride in her community and shared countless happy experiences with those who visited.
Charlotte was also deeply committed to supporting individuals struggling with addiction. Her work with Gam-Anon for almost 60 years was a testament to her unwavering empathy and desire to help others find hope and healing. Her contributions to the program will live on in the lives she helped transform. Charlotte’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her. Details for a celebration of her life to be held in the Spring, her favorite time of year, will be shared at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Reformed Church of the Thousand Isles (reformed1000.org), the Wellesley Island Fire Department, or Stop Predatory Gambling (stoppredatorygambling.org) honoring Charlotte’s lifelong commitments to helping those in need.
