Caroline C. Wells, 81, passed away Monday evening, October 28th at Summit Senior Center, in Watertown.
She was born August 29, 1943, in Watertown, NY, daughter of Ross S. Wells and Phoebe Robbins Daughen.
She graduated from LaFargeville Central High School and attended Jefferson Community College.
She worked as a taxicab driver for Yellow Cab in Watertown for many years. She also worked as a school bus driver for the Thousand Island School District and as a short order cook for the Kountry Kottage, in Alexandria Bay.
She loved animals, was an avid NASCAR and Toronto Blue Jays fan, and adored her cat, Patches. She was a dedicated disciple of the Alcoholics Anonymous program.
Caroline is survived by two daughters, Edna (William) Rooney, Alexandria Bay and Mary Thornton, Dunedin, FL, a brother, Ross Wells, Jr., town of Orleans, two sisters, Anna VanTassel, Central Square, NY and Janet VanTassel, LaVerkin, UT, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Connie Cantwell Castor, a son, Ronald Cantwell, a granddaughter, Courtney Cantwell DeWolf, a brother, Louis Wells and three sisters, Fedora Hotis, June Donaghy and Lana Petrie.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, November 2nd, from 12-2pm at the Costello Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay. A memorial service will begin at 2pm with Fr. Douglas Comstock officiating.
