Jane T. VanBrocklin, 86, formerly of Crossmon St., Alexandria Bay, passed away Friday morning at Carthage Area Hospital SNF where she had been a resident since May 2013.
Jane was born June 22, 1930, in Alexandria Bay, to Leon and Kathleen Parker Taylor. She graduated from Alexandria Bay High School. She married Clark VanBrocklin in Chickopee, MA, on September 2nd, 1954. He passed away on June 10th, 2001.
Jane worked as a Medical Records Clerk at E.J. Noble/River Hospital for 16 years, retiring in 2005. She was active in St. Cyril’s Alter & Rosary Society.
Jane is survived by her sons, James R. VanBrocklin and Marcus L. VanBrocklin, both of Redwood, NY; daughters Mrs. Jay (Phyllis) Gascon, Redwood, NY, and Mrs. Michael (Peggy) Obst, Alamo, TX; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Taylor, Redwood, and Thomas Taylor, Alexandria Bay. She is predeceased by a granddaughter, Sarah Burgoon, and two sisters, Mrs. Gordon (Marion) Aznoe and Mary Ellen Weston.
Calling hours will be held at Costello Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay, on Monday, August 1st from 7-9 pm. A funeral mass will be on Tuesday at 11:00 am at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Barnes Settlement Cemetery. A reception will be held afterward at the American Legion, Rock Street, Alexandria Bay.

May Jane’s family and friends be comforted by God’s promise to “swallow up death forever, and wipe away every tear from all faces”. (Isaiah 25:8) Remembering too the promise of the Resurrection hope here on earth, for both the Unrighteous and Righteous. (Acts 24:15)
Jane was a kind woman, a loss for the family.

Jane took good care of her family and she took good care of me. We had a lot of fun times and a lot of laughs, she will be missed.

the past during my visits at the nursing home
on my travels north. She was the comforting
connection to my late Mom these past 5 years
